The trip is more or less in order from our arrival ("Brazil One" at the bottom of this page) if you are a chronological type, just read this from the bottom up.
The photo albums can be accessed by clicking on the pictures embedded in each blog post. Once you get to the album there is a slide show button... if it's going too fast, there are controls near the bottom of the screen (mouse-over).

Brazil Seven
*****
Ok, this is the last of the photos... we've got a trip to the West side of the intercoastal to see the sunset. This is a nightly event, where the guy in the boat plays a song on the sax, and we watch a beautiful sunset... really nice. The silliness with the gators is at this same place.

The next set are for our boat ride. We took a spin up around the north end of the bay in the harbor area, the "charter-boat" picture is exactly what it appears to be, a regular city bus, somehow mounted into a hull, and there were more than one of these... the second one I saw later was headed across the bay... wild.
Lastly a wonderful dinner out with Carol and her family.
Time permitting, I may add some additional links and references, but that's about it for the contents of the camera.

Brazil Six
On Thursday, we traveled to visit family in Campina Grande, stayed at Christina's Mother's home, and got to meet both sides of the family. On Friday we went on an Eco-Tour at Lagedo do Pai Mateus.
Being away from the coast and traveling through the hills and mountains provided a glimpse into the huge interior of the countryside.

So, it must be time to head back to the beach... right?
This time we headed to a couple of different beaches to the south. We stopped along the way at the "point" where the sun rises first on South America. We traveled to the nude beach... technically we traveled to the entrance to the nude beach... there was quite a long list of rules about using this beach... a bit surprising all the kinds of things you were not allowed to do there. We moved along to a resort with a nice beach, pool, and restaraunt.

The charming and beautiful young lady in the picture with me is Marcella (Carol's cousin.) She was ducking her Dad's chore list at home by coming to visit - it was great to have her with us. Marcella spent part of a year in London and her english is very good

We didn't spend the entire trip at the beach, so I've included a few sightseeing pics here. Not necessarily in order, we visited the english language immersion school where Carol started her new job as a teacher on Monday. (half days)
We visited a fort which I will need to gather some more information about.
We did some shopping...

Saturday night, we attended a concert at the beach. Gilberto Gil was there, and we had a great spot to watch the concert. It was impossible to tell how large the crowd was, but I made a short video (click below). We were standing near the street, and the beach was approx 100 yards to the water, and as you can see, as the camera pans away from the stage, there were many people there. It was a great show, the crowd knew all the songs and sang along. The youngsters in our area were little too affectionate for Alison's midwestern sensibilities, but it was a great concert even with the continuous smooching.

We flew from Minneapolis on Thursday at 5:20pm, (thanks Robert for the lift to the airport), and to Charlotte NC, on to Rio de Janero (arriving friday morning) and then finally to Recife at about 5:30pm Friday.
Went to dinner in an open-air spot along Bom Viage drive (along the sea), sleep and then a morning walk on the beach. We'll pick up the with Saturday afternoon in the next post...
One last thing... these people don't look it... but everyone is very tense - because Carol is awaiting the results of her "vistibular" test, which will determine whether or not she can attend her preferred university beginning in March. She's studied all year for these results, and we will find them out in the next blog posting... (how exciting !!)
